Special Needs Week

Hi there, here I am again.  I will try not to ramble to much, but if I do please forgive me.  This has been Special Needs week and that is a real passion for me.  God is the creator of all things.  He made each and every person in His Holy Image.  He created them, that all might see God's wondrous glory through them.  They are not contiguous, you can not catch their disability.  They simply want to be accepted.  They don't want our pity, just our love.  They don't want you to look away.  They want you to look inside their soul and see they are the same as a "normal" person with a little different makeup.  They want you to be their friend.  How hard is it for us to simple say "hello"?  How hard is it for us to ask them to join us for a lunch?  How hard is it to love those who are "different"?  Jesus came to this earth to be our perfect sacrifice and save us.  He did over 30 miracles and the majority of those were people with Special Needs.  If Jesus could be with those who have disabilities, why can't we, who call ourselves Christians, at least spend a couple hours a week being a friend to those who need us.   Maybe they just need someone to listen, someone to hug them and tell them they are loved.  God gave me a passion for those with disabilities.  But don't get me wrong I have not always had this passion.  It has been a while coming.   I want every person and family that is touched by Special Needs can come and worship God, that they have a Christian Church family that will be there for them.  God wants everyone to hear the gospel.  It is my job as Director of Special Needs/Disability Ministry to make sure all can come and hear.  It does not matter what their disability is, my job is that they hear the gospel.  God will take care of the rest.  It is also my job to make sure that their family can come hear the gospel and worship God.  So I pray that God gives me the strength, the ability to make sure that all who come can do just that.  I welcome all who come.  God please give me the strength, the love and the ability to accommodate all who come through our doors who need a place to bring their loved ones who have Special  Needs and Disabilities.  May I always show your love and care for all.  Lord guide me that I may teach your word the way you would have me do.  Thank you for each and everyone that you have brought to us.  Lord please raise up others with the passion for this ministry to work for those who you will bring to us.  Let me never do anything for myself, only for you Lord God.  I am nothing but your servant.  You are almighty and your glory is my goal.  Thank you for all the blessings you give to me.  Lord let me always remember it is all for YOU and YOU are all that matters.  May I always do your will and never mine.  In Jesus Christ Holy name I pray.  AMEN
Thank you friends for listening to my rambling.

Here goes, my first blog.

I have no idea what I am really doing, but I am going to start anyway.  Today was a great day worshipping the Lord.  I only had one of my boys in Sunday School.  It was a really good day.  It is a real joy to watch the two boys as they learn to function in the world.  They both are on the autistic spectrum.  One is 12 years old and one is 6 years old.  They are very different in their areas of autism.  But it is a real joy working with both of them.  The young one is a runner.  So we have to be on our toes constantly or he is off and running.  What a site that is, a small boy sprinting across the campus with an old chubby woman in hot pursuit.  But today was a good day.  He didn't run once.  Thank you Lord.  Of course next week we may be running constantly.  He also can be a screamer, but today no screaming.  Again Thank you Lord.  I some times have to hold him down so he does wants to hit and kick.  I have to hold him down till he relaxes and then he can sit down and listen to the story, color pages and do the crafts.  Today he came in the classroom sit down and started coloring and was so calm.  It was great.  Then we painted a sun catcher.  Had a snack and in general had a wonderful day learning about prayer.  I am not going to expect that to be like that next week.  He is very smart.  Both of my boys are very smart, but they have trouble communicating their needs and their wants to us.  I am only with these boys from 4 to 6 hours a week.  Their families deal with them 24/7.  They are my heroes.  They love and care for them and try to communicate the best they can every hour of the day.  Today was good.  Next week maybe a lot more work but it will be good too.  It will be good because I will be telling them about Jesus Christ and His love for them.  That is what God has called me to do.  What has God called you to do?  Listen to what He is telling you to do.  Read His word and He will let you know what it is.  God Bless and keep you till next time.
